Transportation
Who We Serve
Renewable natural gas is increasingly being used as a substitute for diesel fuel in the transportation sector due to the availability of many federal and state incentive programs.
In 2018, thirty-two percent of the natural gas used for on-road transportation was renewable natural gas, a 577% increase since 2014, according to the US Energy Information Administration in 2020. Incentive programs offer a path for financial support from the federal and state programs associated with using low carbon fuels.
HOW IT WORKS
Using our state-of-the-art anaerobic digestion facilities, NLC Energy converts organic waste into biogas which is upgraded into pipeline quality natural gas and then injected into the interstate pipeline. Transportation companies can retrieve this gas to fuel their fleets, fostering eligibility for payment from the federal and state programs related to the use of low carbon fuels.
SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS
Natural gas fueled trucks have other environmental benefits over comparable diesel engines—they are 90% cleaner than the EPA’s current NOx (toxic nitrogen oxides) emissions requirement, addressing a key local pollution concern.
